About TMOTTGoGo

TMOTTGoGo (Take Me Out To the Go-Go) Website is currently a non-profit publication that focuses on the urban culture of Washington, D.C., and surrounding metropolitan areas, which no doubt is largely percentage of Go-Go.  Since it’s existence through the informative website, and occasional print magazine, TMOTTGoGo has become the number one source of information on the go-go circuit.  The members of the staff, for the most part, work on a voluntary basis for many reasons, such as, the experience, the opportunity to network in the industry, and building a foundation towards their careers.  Therefore, go-go does have its own media outlet, and we are a team of professionals who take pride in presenting it.

Through our existence in the public view since 1996, we have stood among the forefront presenting ourselves professionally, while manifesting to the world that yes, go-go music not only continues to exist, but remains to be a strong force in the Washington DC metropolitan area.  This has been done through:

Needless to say, TMOTTGoGo has grown to be an effective window and positive voice in the go-go community currently generating an average of over 750,000 hits per month – and still growing.  We receive countless emails daily from people all over the world expressing all sorts of interests in the go-go culture.  These emails range from collage students interested in doing a school essay on the go-go music, to people all over the world thanking us for providing a medium where they can be in contact with what is going on in the go-go community, to different bands asking us to come out and do an article/interview with them, to mass media outlets contacting us to provide them with information and contacts to many of the different bands and individuals that they consistently read about though our very own website, newsletters and magazines.

TMOTTGoGo has been very essential in aiding the assistance in helping to cultivate the go-go music and its culture.  We have successfully provided the means which helped MTV do a segment on go-go music.  As well, we have assisted many media outlets, such as Vibe Magazine, Source Magazine, MurderDogg Magazine, and our continued relationship with The Washington Post and Washington City Paper.  There is a new book on the scene about the go-go community called, “The Beat – Go-Go’s Fusion To Funk & Hip-Hop.”  In this book, many informative information can be found on the topic of TMOTTGoGo.

In addition, TMOTTGoGo is linked all over the internet.  We can be found on such websites as Def Jam, EverythingBlack.Com, Black Planet, AOL, BooYow, The Washington Post, Washington Area Music Association (WAMA), The Washington City Paper, EURWeb, Urban Connections, DC Music Net, Afronet, BlackWebSites, House Nation, ThatGoGo.Com, TakeItEz, MHZ Urban,  dcMusicNews, as well as countless others.  In fact, go to any search engine on the internet, such as Yahoo, Lycos, Excite, Googles, etc, and type in “Go-Go Music”.  I can guarantee you that TMOTTGoGo’s name will pop up.  To take it even further, type in a go-go band’s name, and nine times out of ten, TMOTTGoGo’s name will pop up.  In fact, Yahoo (the leading internet search engine) now has a separate category under their music category called Go-Go.  This is due in part because we have been pressing them over the years to do so.
