Kato and WeazeSettling For Anything

There was a time when D.C. was labeled as having one of the hardest crowds to satisfy.  It was once said, "If you can please a D.C. crowd, you can please anyone."
In hearing this, I took pride in being part of a population that didn't accept just anything thrown its way.  When we attended a concert and the acts’ performance didn't quite meet our expectations, they would surely know it.  On the other hand, if the acts’ performance kept our interest, again they would surely know it, as well.  That's why Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Patti Labelle and The O’Jays are always hitting this market, because when D.C. loves an act, they have a second home.

Well… this is a standard that is incorporated as part of the TMOTTGoGo foundation.  Settling for anything that an act throws our way is simply not our policy.
TMOTTGoGo is in the business to help sustain and promote the music of our genre.  We are not in the business of making ourselves human pacifiers.  Therefore, we're going to call it as we see it.  Only then will we be able to stand steadfastly by our promise of  "Keeping It Real."

I have actually been told by several business owners that I was wasting my time dealing with Go-Go.  That there is no camaraderie in Go-Go.  Some even had the audacity to try to tell me that Go-Go won't even last.  Of course, you know I blew them off.

This is not a joke.  "The gateway to a Washington DC music culture," is the motto of TMOTTGoGo, and that's exactly where we have positioned ourselves.  In other words, we intend to be the true window to the Go-Go music culture.

Now, one thing about a window is that it is clear.  People can look in, and people can look out.   When those on the outside look in, they get to see the true story.  Not the one portrayed on the six o'clock news.  They get to observe and appreciate the true art form.  On the other hand, there are those on the inside (members of the culture) who get to look out of our window and view music business from a national perspective.  Instead of yelling, "Why isn't go-go excepted more on the national level?"  they get to see first hand the reasons.  Better yet, they are given the opportunity to do something about it.

This is not about us being in competition with any other magazine or publication, especially if they are shooting for the same goal.  It is not about us wanting to put anyone or anything down just to feed our egos.   It's about re-igniting a spark that has been long overdue.

And to those who think that what we are doing is just a wasted attempt – let's just see what happens and watch the smoke.

One Love,

~Kato
