The DC Go-Go Music Culture Continues the Fight to Preserve its Presence in the City’s Fabric.

In the latest demonstration process resulting from the #DontMuteDC campaign that began a few weeks ago, the Go-Go community continues to show the tenacity of its deep roots and resilience within the DC culture, as the Backyard Band bring more than 3000 people to the corner of 14th & U Street in support to show their solidarity. Also a performance by the ABM band.

Dubbed Moechella — a name that combined the Coachella music festival with “Moe,” a pronoun for a friend exclusively used in D.C. — the gathering invited people to demonstrate against gentrifiers who have been fighting the city’s native go-go music.
