CBS Mornings spotlights D.C.’s Go-Go legacy with Experience Unlimited’s Sugar Bear and JuJu House

On June 10, 2025, CBS Mornings visited the Go-Go Museum & Café in historic Anacostia to sit down with Sugar Bear and JuJu House of D.C.-born go-go legends Experience Unlimited (EU). The duo reflected on their classic hit “Da Butt,” made famous in Spike Lee’s School Daze, and delved into go?go’s enduring cultural impact.

Founded in 2025, the museum is the first of its kind, a musical home for go-go, born in the 1970s and officially recognized by D.C. Council as the District’s official music in 2019. With interactive timelines, holograms of artists such as Sugar Bear himself, live Tiny Desk-style performances, digital graffiti walls, and a café serving a variety of flavors, it blends technology, education, and performance in one immersive space.

During the segment, Sugar Bear emphasized the importance of preserving go-go’s grassroots spirit and its roots in D.C. neighborhoods. JuJu House added that the museum isn’t just a tribute… it’s a springboard for new generations to learn, record, perform, and engage with the genre’s vibrant rhythms.
