Anwan “Big G” Glover, of DC’s own Backyard Band, continues to make leaps in strides. In his most recent chapter, the man also recognized by the world as Slim Charles from “The Wire” now also provides narration voice of the ESPN2 program “Hey Rookie: Welcome to the NFL”. The new season premiered on Tuesday, September 11 served as Big G’s debut as an NFL Films narrator. The 2009 Go-Go Awards is scheduled for The Washington Convention Center on Nov. 1. In addition to D.C.’s own Comedian/Actor Red Grant hosting this year’s event, some of today’s most prominent acts on the Go-Go curcuit are scheduled to perform. Presented by Peace Abode, the acts scheduled to perform are Familiar Faces, Backyard, Suttle Thoughts, and TCB among others. The band had jumped into the old school RE “Roll Call” groove and was honored with a guest appearance by legends Jas. Funk & Little Benny, who paid tribute to the Ghetto Prince.
