Jarratt, Virginia (CNN) — Washington-area sniper John Allen Muhammad was executed Tuesday by lethal injection, a Virginia prisons spokesman said. He was declared dead at 9:11 p.m., said Larry Traylor, director of communications for the Virginia Department of Corrections. “There were no complications; Mr. Mohammad was asked if he wished to make a last statement,” he told reporters. “He did not acknowledge this or make a last statement whatsoever.” Mohammad, 48, said nothing from the time he entered the death chamber accompanied by guards, Traylor said. DC Sniper John Muhammad Scheduled for Execution Today

Unless Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine steps in, sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad will be executed today for the attacks that terrorized the people here in the Washington DC metro region for three weeks in 2002. Muhammad is set to die by injection at Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt. His attorneys have asked Kaine to commute his sentence to life in prison because they say he is mentally ill. Execution Date Has Been Set for Washington, D.C. Sniper, John Muhammad

A Virginia circuit court has set Nov. 10 as the execution date for sniper John Muhammad. In 2002, the nation was in shock, and fear was rampant, waiting to see who the next victim of a sniper would be in the Washington DC area. According to the CNN website in that letter from Wednesday, Senior Assistant Attorney General, Katherine B.
