Sportscaster George Michael dead at 70

Washington (CNN) — Veteran sports anchor George Michael died early Thursday after a two-year battle with cancer, according to his former TV station. Michael, 70, was known nationally for “The George Michael Sports Machine,” a syndicated TV show that ran nationwide for 27 years. Redskin’s Jim Zorn Has Been Relinquished of His Play-Calling Duties

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — The Washington Redskins are taking away head coach Jim Zorn’s play-calling duties. Zorn discussed the change with executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato after Washington’s 14-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The team plans to announce a new play caller Monday. According to Redskins spokesman Zack Bolno, Cerrato told Zorn he believes the coach had too many responsibilities and someone else should call the offensive plays.
