Big G Debuts As NFL Films Narrator

Anwan “Big G” Glover, of DC’s own Backyard Band, continues to make leaps in strides.  In his most recent chapter, the man also recognized by the world as Slim Charles from “The Wire” now also provides narration voice of the ESPN2 program “Hey Rookie: Welcome to the NFL”. The new season premiered on Tuesday, September 11 served as Big G’s debut as an NFL Films narrator. Anwan “BIG G” Glover – Member of the legendary Backyard Band, personally calls Muddy District out to Bluebirds Barber Shop, located on Georgia Avenue, to film him getting his hair cut. Big G is also known as Slim Charles from HBO’s The Wire, as well as WKYS 93.9 radio personality for The Ghetto Prince Show. Harvard Will Have A Class On “The Wire”

The “WIRE” Returns to TV – ‘The Avon Barksdale Story – Legends of the Unwired’

E1 Music has announced that the company will be releasing “The Avon Barksdale Story- Legends Of The Unwired” in March 2010. Fans of HBO’s The Wire should recognize Avon Barksdale as the character played by actor Wood Harris on the award winning series. In the docudrama, the real Nathan Avon “Bodie” Barksdale tells all to actor Wood Harris. The Avon Barksdale Story has already won an award at NY International Independent Film & Video Festival.
