Go-Go Symphony – An Intersection Where We Can Feel It All Over

In the 1976 hit “Sir Duke”, the very first words that Stevie Wonder says are, “Music is a world within itself with a language we all understand. With an equal opportunity for all to sing, dance and clap their hands.”

Fast forward 38 years, and we find that those very same music principles still apply in life today. In fact, this coming Friday February 21, a prime example of that will take place. The Capital City Symphony’s Go-Go Symphony, which is a full symphony orchestra that performs action packed party music over a Washington DC Go-Go beat, will be showcased live during the opening night of INTERSECTIONS. A evening of musical presentations that takes place at Washington DC’s Atlas Performing Arts Center.

This collision of musical worlds will be filled with all out full performances, to include dancing routines delivered by Da Originalz and a dazzling video production world premiere by Joshua Cruse.

Liza Figueroa Kravinsky, who is the original creator of the go-go symphony concept, shares a vision that illuminates “all kinds of people dancing together to the go-go beat, breaking down musical and social barriers, While giving go-go the respect that it deserves and breathing new life into the classic world”. Or as Stevie Wonder puts it, a platform where “we can feel it all over.”

Also added to the mix for this performance are conductor extraordinaire John Devlin at the podium, with mayor of DC Hip-Hop Head Roc and Keith Christian in the Master of Ceremony positions. Three addition that promise to add even more flavor to the already unique ensemble of artists.
