In Order for Us To Ensure That It Gets Done, We Must Be In The Position To Do It

Many times I see folks talking about or asking when (if ever) is Go-Go, as a music genre of its own, going to be fully accepted nationally as well as internationally as the others (i.e., R&B, Hip-Hop, Heavy Metal, Country & Western, Pop, Rock & Roll, etc…) But the bottom line is that until we ourselves get in the position of being gatekeepers, it’s not going to happen. Period!

It ain’t about this continuous debate that’s been going on for years originals vs covers. Folks like Luther Vandross, PDiddy and Mary J Blige built their careers off covers. It’s about being in the position of saying ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to them.

And I’m not talking about getting in the position and then forgetting your mission. Because that’s been done before… quite a few times.

Now, we can continue fighting, beefing and battling with each other over dumb ish, or we can finally decide to push each other into that position. The choice is yours! The easiest thing in the world to do is be a critic!

So… how you gonna carry it?
