Peaceaholics founder Ron Moten held a press conference on Thursday, July 15, right outside City Paper’s office, to protest D.C. Council Chairman Vincent Gray’s description of Moten as a “Crony” of Mayor Adrian Fenty’s.  It ran about 20 minutes.  Here are the highlights. Peaceoholics Closes Its Doors This Week Due To DC Budget Cuts

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) — Just as a Southeast Washington community starts to recover from last week’s bloodshed, 9NEWS NOW has learned that one of the only organizations in the neighborhood that helps troubled youth is forced to close its doors. Peaceoholics has been widely praised in the past for making peace between rival crews, but tonight, its days are numbered–a casualty of DC budget cuts. 2009 Go-Go Awards: Nominees and Performance Announced

The 2009 Go-Go Awards is scheduled for The Washington Convention Center on Nov. 1.  In addition to D.C.’s own Comedian/Actor Red Grant hosting this year’s event, some of today’s most prominent acts on the Go-Go curcuit are scheduled to perform. Presented by Peace Abode, the acts scheduled to perform are Familiar Faces, Backyard, Suttle Thoughts, and TCB among others.
