Marlon Wayans Headed To Pryor Biopic

Marlon Wayans is in advanced talks to play comedy legend Richard Pryor in “Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?” for Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions and Sony Pictures. The $20 million production will follow Pryor’s controversial brand of comedy and his battle with drugs reports, Entertainment Weekly. “Dreamgirls” and “Gods & Monsters” writer/director Bill Condon will direct from his own screenplay, while Chris Rock, Pryor’s widow Jennifer Lee Pryor and Mark Gordon are also on board as producers. Ben Ali, Founder of DC’s Ben’s Chili Bowl, Has Died

Associated Press — Ben Ali, the founder of Ben’s Chili Bowl diner, a landmark in Washington’s black business and entertainment district and a frequent stop for politicians and celebrities, has died. He was 82. Ali died of natural causes Wednesday night at his home, restaurant manager Maurice Harcum said Thursday. Ali was born in 1927 and opened the restaurant with his wife, Virginia, in an old movie house in 1958, when Dwight D. Eisenhower was president and integrating public schools. Laid Off DC Teachers Clean Out Desks

WASHINGTON – Some Washington school teachers headed back to their class rooms for the last time over the weekend. Teachers who were laid off Friday were told they could come back to school Saturday to clean out their classrooms and offices. But at McKinley Tech arriving teachers found the doors locked at first. Media teacher Ralph Cooper says he was not surprised, saying the transition has not smooth for anyone. D.C. public schools officials announced Friday they will fire nearly 400 employees — including 229 teachers — because of budget cuts. D.C. Schools Security Company Goes Bankrupt

The security company that provided about 300 guards to D.C. schools went bankrupt Thursday night, disrupting the beginning of classes across the city. Schools spokeswoman Jennifer Calloway confirmed widespread reports that guards employed by company Hawk One Security did not appear for work Friday morning. “They folded last night,” she said. The company’s troubles were not a surprise, Calloway said, and the school system is implementing a new security plan that she declined to detail in an interview Friday morning. A community is calling for answers days after a student attack on school grounds was caught on tape. ABC 7 News first broke the story of the attack at John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring. For rap fans who attended “The DMV Southern Takeover Concert” at 9:30 club, Saturday, the sting was two-fold, with both Texas rap legend Bun B and local fave Tabi Bonney failing to post.
