THE TRUTH BEHIND THE CHUCK BROWN DAY CELEBRATION AND THE FRAUDULENT KAPPSTONE MEDIA

The Chuck Brown Day Celebration was put into jeopardy due to fraudulent business dealings by Kappstone Media

Washington, DC – Saturday, August 18, 2012 was set to be a historic day for Washington, DC as Chuck Brown Day was scheduled to occur at the Washington Convention Center. Unfortunately, we learned at 10:00am Friday, August 17, that the show would have to be cancelled or postponed.

Kappstone Media, located at 10201 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Suite# 270, Bowie, MD 20720, an organization owned by Willie Young, had a contract with the Washington Convention Center for the Lifestyle Empowerment Symposium to last from Thursday, August 16 and Friday, August 17 and also include the entertainment portion, the Chuck Brown Day Celebration on Saturday. Mr. Young of Kappstone Media recruited Tubb of Tubb Entertainment based on his stellar business ethics to put together the Saturday event. Mr. Young left Tubb in the dark with several financial obligations to the Convention Center that Mr. Young said had been satisfied. The Washington Convention Center and Tubb tried to diligently and in good faith to work out a solution to bring this historic show to the people of Washington, DC on Saturday, August 18, as planned but to avail.

Kappstone Media said that they had finalizes sponsorship from the US Army, JET Magazine, Direct TV, Given, Edward Jones Investment, Bellezza de Terra, PNC Bank, UAA, Men Aiming Higher, NAI Michael, Nationwide, Vitamin Water, Ginger + Liz, Radio One, Automotive Rhythms and Afro American Newspaper for the next five (5) years. Kappstone Media also stated that they had sent the contracts and deposits to the booking agencies for artists such as Christopher Williams, India Arie, Calvin Richardson and Dwele, which he did not do, yet these acts were advertised. Tubb Entertainment, Spotlight Fam, Platinum Image Ent Group and all other parties involved are not responsible for any shady business dealings as they proceeded to clean up the mess of Kappstone Media. Tubb Entertainment’s mission was to bring a tribute show to honor the Godfather of Go Go who he affectionately called ‘Pops’ to the fans of Washington, DC and feels terrible that Chuck Brown’s tribute dedication cannot happen at the Washington Convention Center due to the negligence of Willie Young and Kappstone Media.

Tubb Entertainment is mortified at this situation as all of the bands had to be cancelled and all the hard work that the people at the Convention Center and everyone else involved in this show put in to make this a successful event only to have it ruined the day before the event by one entity, Kappstone Media and Willie Young.

Everyone involved in the show feels terrible that this has happened as everyone worked very hard to make this a successful event. Unfortunately, somethings are out of your control when you are not the principal contract holder and you rely on someone else.

Please contact Platinum Image Ent Group if you have had any business dealings with Kappstone Media or Willie Young for the Lifestyle Empowerment Symposium events as he will be involved in a class action suit. Tubb Entertainment, Spotlight Fam Ent and Platinum Image Ent Group was not aware of any dishonest business dealings and their name should not be tainted or slandered due to Kappstone Media and Willie Young’s fraudulent dealings and reputation as they will continue to uphold respectable business practices.

Thanks to everyone involved especially the Washington Convention Center staff and everyone who assisted in attempting to make this event a success. Again we apologize to the fans of Washington, DC, Mainstage Talent and the bands and artists who were set to perform and involved.

There are plans to move the location to DC Star so this event can still take place for a great cause, stay tuned.
