With a signature and a smile, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray signed into law the newest monument in a city that’s full of monuments. This one is for the late Chuck Brown, the well-known Godfather of Go-Go, and a music icon in the city. In a few months, the Chuck Brown Music Pavilion will open its doors to District residents and visitors. Design Unveiling for Chuck Brown Memorial to be Held Today

Our Godfather of Go-Go, Chuck Brown, will soon be remembered and honored in yet another location here in the district. Today DC Mayor Vincent Grey will unveil the design for the new Chuck Brown Memorial, which is said will be located in Langdon Park.  He will also sign legislation that will finalize the plan for the honor. The memorial will be built by the same design company that restored the inside of Howard Theatre, where Brown was a regular performer. Chuck, Donny, Bill & Barack Sides Ben’s Chili Bowl

Take a trip from now on to Ben’s Chili Bowl, and painted right on the side of the building, you’re going to catch the latest mural from artist Aniekan Udofia. Although this mural is the 5th mural to be created this summer through the Murals DC program,  this particular one celebrates some of Ben’s famous patrons: Barack Obama, Bill Cosby, Donnie Simpson, and the late Chuck Brown.  Aniekan, along with some help from apprentices, hopes to have this one completed by by this Tuesday, August 28th. Mayor Vincent Gray Unveils Chuck Brown Memorial Park

DC’s mayor has unveiled plans for a park to honor the Godfather of Go-Go on what would have been Chuck Brown’s 76th birthday. Wednesday, Mayor Vincent Gray proclaimed August 22nd “Chuck Brown Day,”  and released renderings of the proposed park. The mayor propose d legislation earlier this year for a park in Brown’s honor. Wednesday, he announced that Chuck Brown Memorial Park would be a part of Langdon Park in Ward 5. Renderings of the park show a memorial bust or statue at the amphitheater.
