The audience was given a heartfelt surprise during the Summer Fest, which took place at that Merriweather Post Pavilion on Saturday, August 4. Looks like Chuck Brown will get his day in Congress

The “Godfather of Go-Go,”  is the subject of a new resolution that would designate his birthday, Aug. 22, as “Chuck Brown Day.” Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, who introduced the resolution, spoke on it at Browns’ public memorial service yesterday. “Chuck Brown’s funky go-go beat gave hometown D.C. its own distinctive sound, and helped the world see that the District is more than just a government town. During the Homegoing services where many people spoke to bid their final farewell to Chuck Brown at the Washington Convention Center (to include Donnie Simpson, Donnie Simpson, DC Mayor Vincent Gray, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Marion Barry, Big G, Chucky Thompson, Darryl Brooks, Chris Paul and Huggy Lowdown), one of the more entertaining remarks came from comedian Mike Epps, who jokingly recalled how he first met Chuck Brown.
