Rare Essence / Sylver Logan Sharp – “Real Brothers” [Audio]

It always seems to frustrate me sometimes when a person says that Go-Go bands need to create more originals, when I know for a fact that many of them do. So whenever I’m asked that question, my response is always, “Yea.  Many of them do.”  The question I cannot answer is why many people have never heard them.  This is why I got ‘syced’ and a little frustrated when I came across this particular tune here. This song “Real Brothers” recorded by Rare Essence and DC’s own Sylver Logan Sharp is a prime example.  Personally, I have only heard this … Continue reading Rare Essence / Sylver Logan Sharp – “Real Brothers” [Audio]

DeeJay Dirty Rico’s Back On The Air – Noisemaker Nation Invades Majic 102.3

What appeared to be rough beginning of 2010 for DeeJay Dirty Rico has actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise for 2011 year, as the party jock will be continuing to make his noise on Majic 102.3.  Shortly after Donnie Simpson’s departure from WPGC 95.5 back in February of 2010, Rico was also immediately let go from the station — to put it in a nutshell, for basically doing his job. Listeners heard all music, all the time, no jocks at all. It was a stunt the station had teased last week and announced on-air Friday morning. In response to listener demand, they’d said, they were playing “102 hours of commercial-free music,” which … Continue reading The Tom Joyner Morning Show’ Returned to Majic 102.3 Today

Majic 102.3 brings aboard John Monds to take over the afternoon slot in the revamped format at the station. A veteran radio personality, his last major market stop was at Radio One’s former Los Angeles station V100. Monds has also had long runs in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Area listeners will remember him as the morning man at 96.3 WHUR prior to Tony Richards hosting “The Real D.C. Morning Show”. Monds exited the PD and afternoon drive position at Magic (formerly Mix) 106.1, WRRX Pensacola in June. Continue reading John Monds Heads to D.C. Majic 102.3 Afternoon Slot
