Mayor Vincent Gray Unveils Chuck Brown Memorial Park

DC’s mayor has unveiled plans for a park to honor the Godfather of Go-Go on what would have been Chuck Brown’s 76th birthday. Wednesday, Mayor Vincent Gray proclaimed August 22nd “Chuck Brown Day,”  and released renderings of the proposed park. The mayor propose d legislation earlier this year for a park in Brown’s honor. Wednesday, he announced that Chuck Brown Memorial Park would be a part of Langdon Park in Ward 5. Renderings of the park show a memorial bust or statue at the amphitheater. Bob Marley Wanted More Black American Fans

It’s hard to believe that reggae music immortal Bob Marley once struggled to appeal to any fan base, but according to his son, Ziggy Marley, Black Americans were late to the party. In the documentary, Marley, which was released on DVD Tuesday [August 14], there are scenes where Bob Marley plays in the U.S. during the late 1970s to packed arenas. However, his audience members were primarily white, and not the Black Americans with whom he truly wanted to connect. DC Power Producer Paul Minor Has Passed Away

One of the greatest Audio Engineers and Songwriter/Producers to ever come out of the Washington D.C. has passed away.  Paul Minor died on Thursday morning of cardiac arrest after finishing a recording session at Powerhouse Productions studios located in Dover, Pennsylvania. Chuck Brown’s Image Performs on Jumbotron As His Band Pays Tribute at Merriweather Summer Fest 2012

The audience was given a heartfelt surprise during the Summer Fest, which took place at that Merriweather Post Pavilion on Saturday, August 4.
